Last year we had Jack-Be-Little and Jack-O-Lantern. This year we are doing those and adding Sugar and Atlantic Dills.

And they are off and running, I hope I still have enough time for these to produce a pumpkin before winter!

In the pumpkin/squash department I'm mainly growing "ornamental" pearshaped squash from my own 2009 seed. Also have some cucumbers in the ground, but no melons or watermelons.

My wife planted a few rows using up some of the seed packets we had left over. She forgot what she planted. Seems I have several more small sugar pumpkin plants I saw a pumpkin about the size of a baseball.

We have one Triple Treat plant that has survived the gophers and deer, and have planted some more seeds in that hill. Then we have three Kahki in another hill (along with what looks like a zucchini plant, although not the same variety as the zucchini plants we deliberately seeded).

Last Saturday (the 16) I noticed the first peashaped squash, but until then, I only had one other "ornamental" and lots of male flowers.

I have now two squash on "ornamental mix" and one pearshaped. The pearshaped may have crossed with a zucchini (kabaczek "Golden Zeppelin"), because the fruit seems to be more longish than pearshaped and also of a lighter colour.
